Description
Nature Triumphs (2009-2010)
The layout of this quilt is based on Heather Thomas’ “Adventures in Bargello.” I chose an urban black-and-white color scheme, then added a lamppost and 3-dimensional clematis vines of my own design to show how the natural world refuses to be overcome by humanity’s attempts to cover it with concrete. The first time I ever saw clematis, they were climbing up a lamppost in the front yard of Gordon and Marguerite Hein in Altoona, Pennsylvania - just like this.
